Duration: 36 months starting January 2018

Summary:
This project consists on the development of a robust numerical tool, based on a variable kinematic approach, for applications in vibration problems of aerospace panels. The unified formulation developed at LEME (Laboratoire Energétique Mécanique Electromagnétisme, Université Paris Nanterre) allows to implement, in a single numerical code, an infinitude of composite plate/shell models with controllable precision and computational cost. The objective of the project is to control vibrations of complex structures (multicore sandwich structures, for example) using not only layers of viscoelastic material but also piezoelectric elements. Therefore, the presence of piezoelectric elements combined with the viscoelastic nature of the sandwich panel components will allow an important reduction in vibrations, namely in the acoustic frequency range.
